we've returned after our Peruvian odessey, first to the city of Arequipa, then our rural homestay in Colca, then Lima. Here's a few snapshots of the rural life, because really, it was the part worth taking pictures of. Lima could be any city anywhere, except that there's more naked women on the billboards. Arequipa was beautiful, very much a vacation destination for Peruvians as well as foriegn tourists. But my village of Sibayo in Colca Canyon was something special for me! take a look...
esquilando (shearing) the alpaca, 6:30am. The shears were a lot harder to work than i was expecting. Luckily, the alpaca was well tied down so i didn't have to worry about it writhing around and making me cut it!
